Initial Assessment

A therapeutic process starts with an assessment. The initial assessment helps us figure out what approaches suit your mental health challenges. The assessment can last 1 or 2 sessions, sometimes more.

What to expect? You will be asked a set of questions and/or to complete questionnaires to help determine which direction to go. The subsequent sessions are determined collaboratively with your therapist following the goals you wish to reach.

Benu Psychotherapy prides to offer treatments that work. Many difficulties in the spectrum of mood disorders (depression, bipolar) or anxiety disorders (PTSD, phobia, OCD) respond well to approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (C.B.T.), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (E.M.D.R.). Some challenges that involve alcohol, drug addictions, respond well to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (A.C.T.). Other difficulties respond well to psychodynamic approach or integrative psychotherapy (using a variety of therapeutic modalities).

Video therapy is a form of therapy that is held online via a secure platform. It offers flexibility and it’s a great alternative for some people who seek support when in-person therapy is not easy. Video therapy has been proven to be as effective as traditional therapy. It is a talk therapy or conversation that is happening the same way as if you were at the office. How does it work? The process is the same, simply submit a request via the contact form or make an appointment specifying your desire to start a video therapy.

This is an 8-week program group therapy designed for individuals who have experienced trauma, are recovering from an addiction or are experiencing the adverse effects of stress (one group for each issue).

Participants will learn to activate the process through which resiliency occurs by learning new skills and coping strategies through concrete cognitive-behavioural tools, mindfulness techniques, positive psychology, etc., as well as gaining resources to facilitate positive outcomes. The goal in activating resilience is positive adaptation and to get a better recovery, post-traumatic growth, and sustainability.
